Urban Wellness is a multidisciplinary practice, offering a wide range of counseling services in addition to clinical supervision, private practice consultation, and workshops/presentations for local schools and businesses. • Serve as the clinician for patients, working to help them reach their goals through individual weekly and bi-weekly sessions. La Rabida Children’s Hospital is a specialty hospital for extended acute care and rehabilitation. The hospital offers both inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital specializes in providing care for children with chronic illnesses, as well as those in need of rehabilitation after surgery, burns, brain injury, stroke, or suffering trauma.• Maintained an outpatient caseload of 14 patients ages 5 to 18 with a wide range of presenting concerns including adjustment to complex medical conditions, behavior problems, anxiety, treatment adherence, and posttraumatic stress disorder.• Worked with multi-stressed children and families from the Chicago area. • Conducted social-emotional screenings and offered behavioral interventions as a member of a multidisciplinary team in the hospital’s outpatient clinics, including the Pediatric Incontinence Clinic, Diabetes Clinic, Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic, and Sickle Cell Clinic.• Provided consultation-liaison services for children admitted to the hospital who required support around treatment adherence, adjustment to diagnosis or hospitalization, procedural anxiety, pain management, or behavioral concerns. • Consulted and collaborated with professionals from a variety of fields including case management, child life, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and nursing. • Attended weekly didactics in pediatric psychology, assessment, developmental psychology, and professional issues. • Benefitted from the hospital’s affiliation with the University of Chicago by attending Burn Rounds, Grand Rounds, and Child Protective Services Rounds.

These sessions incorporate a variety of psychological interventions including relaxation training, hypnosis, biofeedback, and integrative psychotherapy to treat a range of mental health and medical problems. • Followed multiple cases over the course of the entire year-long placement.• Participated in weekly training seminars on the utilization of behavioral medicine techniques along with other psychological interventions within a bio-psycho-social treatment model.• Presented at formal case conferences.• Co-led a weekly Integrative Weight Management Group, which offers patients an opportunity to identify their personal reasons for losing weight, to learn effective strategies for lifelong health, to support each other in understanding potential barriers to weight loss, to share successes, and to practice self-compassion throughout their weight loss journeys.

The Arlington School at McLean Hospital is a nationally recognized, private junior-senior high school, providing specialized educational services to adolescents with substantial psychiatric needs. The school provides a safe and supportive community where students can grow academically, heal and thrive emotionally, assume greater control over their learning, and achieve personal goals.• Independently served as the clinician for five students. Helped them work toward their social and emotional goals, through individual weekly counseling sessions and additional therapeutic “check-ins” throughout the day and week as the need arose. • Consulted with families, school personnel and representatives from a range of community and state agencies• Worked closely with outside therapists, families, and schools in the community to address the academic, emotional and behavioral problems that have disrupted students’ previous educational experiences. • Managed crisis interventions on an as-needed basis throughout the school day to help students cope with any acute difficulties and learn to problem-solve. • Co-led a weekly Health and Wellness Group which offered students an opportunity to support each other in developing the awareness and skills necessary to be more effective in their lives at school and at home. The Learning Disabilities Clinic at Boston Children’s Hospital offers comprehensive evaluations for children ages 7-16 who are facing challenges in cognitive, academic and social development. An interdisciplinary team conducts a variety of psychological, academic, and neuropsychological assessments while investigating potential medical or neurological bases for the child’s problems. • Conducted psychological screenings, including child and parent interviews, scoring and interpretation of questionnaires, and administration and interpretation of projective measures. • Participated in case conferences with an interdisciplinary team consisting of psychologists, neurologists, neuropsychologists, oral and written language specialists, mathematics specialists, and nurse practitioners. • Wrote reports as part of the interdisciplinary evaluation discussing the presence of any emotional issues both past and present that may affect or be affected by academic and social performance.

The Threshold Program at Lesley University is a two-year, post-secondary school program for highly motivated young adults with diverse learning disabilities and other special needs.• Provided individual counseling services to young adults with complex learning and developmental problems.• Co-taught a weekly “Personal Growth” course and consulted to key program staff.
