For the past number of years I have been taking various online courses not only to become better at my job but also to explore different IT fields. At first it was just my hobby alongside the main career, however as I began creating small projects and accomplishing tasks with scripts, I realised that creating something with the gained knowledge brings me a lot of joy. I developed a particular interest in front-end and full-stack technologies. This led me to start my journey in a new field by learning HTML, CSS and JavaScript online. Later, I decided to intensify my experience with TypeScript, JavaScript and well-known technologies like React, Next.js, Express and etc. I found a bootcamp that aligned with my roadmap. During 10 weeks I deepened my knowledge and created a number of full-stack projects, utilising JavaScript technologies. For the graduation project I decided to use Python frameworks to create the backend to challenge myself with the new cool web technologies but also because I didn’t want to abandon Python and our long history:) Now I am ready for my first job in the new field!

Day-to-day responsibilities:Analysed cases of patients with genetic disorders and made data-driven decisions that determined further diagnostic, treatment and family planning strategies.Mentored and supervised new data analysts, supporting their motivation and helping to level-up their skills.Initiative:Engaged in text labelling and evaluated the results of a supervised machine learning model that aimed to discover new associations between genes and genetic disorders.Created Python scripts to automate report related workflow.

Day-to-day responsibilities:Created Python scripts to parse and extract specific information from medical reports to improve availability of the data for analysts and medical doctors.Created a database using PostgreSQL and filled with the parsed data for further use and as a part of the future software for data annotation and analysis.Maintained existing pipeline that processed DNA sequencing data.Consulted patients and medical doctors regardingquestions about data processing and analysis.Analysed sequencing data of patients.

Day-to-day responsibilities:DNA/cfDNA/RNA extraction/isolation (blood, FFPE specimens, etc); PCR (RNA, DNA, cfDNA; MLPA;Sanger sequencing from primers design to results analysis; paternity and kinship genetic testing; work with human fetuses; CMA, NGS;Initiative:Developed a Django (Python) application to perform complex calculations for kinship testing based on fragment analysis, which allowed to significantly reduce analysis time, improved my teammates workflow and eliminated possibility of human error from calculations.
