About Valerio Massaro
Hello everyone!I’m Valerio and I am a Computer Engineer. Since March 22nd I have graduated in Master Computer Engineering at Alma Mater Studiorum Bologna after an experience abroad (Saarbruecken, Germany) to prepare my thesis regarding cyber security in industrial control systems.I'm currently a DevOps Engineer for DMA, based in Cesena. However, for two years, I was a research fellow at DISI (Dipartimento Informatica - Scienza e Ingegneria) and my research focused on IoT security. Moreover, I am the father of BinDriller, a cloud based platform for static and dynamic analysis of Internet of Things firmwares.All the other milestones of my career are available below: enjoy!I am also a runner and a mountain addicted (you can give me kudos on Strava 😉). Nowadays, a large number of devices that until a few years ago were considered independent, are connected to each other and to the network to perform tasks of increasing complexity, which affect people's daily lives. Consequently, the so-called IoT devices have quickly assumed strategic importance in the context of cyber security. Protecting them from malicious attacks means not only protecting your home networks but also avoiding escalation on a daily physical cyber level. This project aims to design and implement a HW/SW framework for the automated static and dynamic analysis of the firmwares running in such environment/on such devices, in order to make the identification of known vulnerabilities fast and effective, markedly decimating the effort put into by security engineers and pentesters.
