Hello! My name is Valery Castillo Ramos and I am a first-generation student at the University of Utah in the David Eccles School of Business pursuing a degree in Marketing with a minor in Business Analytics. Currently, I am entering my third year at the University of Utah and have been very involved on campus through my extracurricular activities. In my first year, I was involved with the Business Scholars program. I meticulously studied several business subjects and gave presentations to highly accomplished professors. Through this program, I also traveled to Whistler, Canada and Paris, France to learn about strategic leadership and international business. My following year, I became an ambassador for the program. As an Eccles ambassador, I became a mentor to 15+ freshman students and assisted in instructing business courses to a class of 50+ students. I was very graciously able to travel to New York City, New York and Paris, France as an ambassador through this program. Additionally, I helped with the recruitment process in the Business Scholars programs, giving multiple tours a week and attending recruitment events. Currently, I am interning at U Career Success, the career development office at the University of Utah, as the Social Media Team Lead Intern. I help manage the social media presence of the office across multiple platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok. Through this internship I have learned multiple marketing disciplines, such as content creation, graphic design, blog writing and social media management. As a team lead, I help manage a team of multiple interns by delegating tasks and conducting team and 1-1 check-in meetings to track progress. In my third year, I am serving as the Director of Communications for Business Student Government at the David Eccles School of Business. I am writing post-event summaries for Business Student Government hosted events and writing proposals for sponsorships. As a recognized leader for the David Eccles School of Business, I am responsible for learning and communicating the needs of the students and making applicable changes in my position through Business Student Government.Through my educational experience and extracurriculars at the University of Utah, I have developed a strong interest in marketing. I am data-driven and creative, I strive to craft a compelling story to support data-driven business initiatives. After graduation, I hope to pursue a career in brand marketing and strategy, specifically in the dynamic and innovative beauty industry.
