The Intergroup Dialogue (IGD) Program is very purposeful in its blending of research, theory and experiential learning into all of its educational & social justice programs, services and campus initiative practices. This approach strengthens IGD’s capacity to take the appropriate and necessary steps towards, (a) supporting the UCLA community around emerging social identity-based intergroup conflicts/misunderstandings that impact the campus and its climate, (b) encouraging conversations around issues of social identity, interpersonal and intergroup relations/conflict, prejudice reduction, and social justice, (c) promoting understanding of intergroup relations inside and outside of the classroom, and more.

JUSTICE is an intensive orientation designed by students, for students to provide incoming first year students with a real life experience of college. JUSTICE was created through engaging education (e²), to offer students insights and resources needed to succeed at UCSC. It is a social justice focused program designed to provide students with skill sets that improves their academic success during their first year, and provide participants with knowledge on different social and political issues through workshops and classes. Among the content provided in the workshops, students will also have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with UCSC, get advice from other students of color, and build connections with other incoming students.As coordinator:● Help in the development of itineraries, large budgets, and evaluations. ● Coordinate post-program evaluations to ensure that the program reflects the targeted community’s needs and to provide data that future coordinators can utilize. ● Schedule workshops and activities for all 8 days as well as contacting alumni and other community members to speak for facilitate activities. ● Conduct research on preparatory workshops and read evaluations to determine future workshops. ● Outreach to participants

Oportunidades Rumbo A La Educacion is presented by Movimiento Estudianti ChicanX de Aztlan (MEChA) in support of the ChicanX/LatinX community at UC Santa Cruz. ORALE is a 3-day program that focuses on the ChicanX/LatinX experience at UCSC while providing already admitted students with workshops about important aspects of college life such as student resources and financial aid. “X” at the end of the word of LatinX/ChicanX addresses gender neutrality.Through models of student agency, program co-coordinators fully design, plan and organize this 3-day, 2-night event. Coordinating includes creating and managing timelines and budgets, planning workshops and facilitators, as well as general logistics, travel and lodging planning for all participants and facilitators.
