While receiving a degree in graphic communications at Clemson, I work at the local movie theater (Regal) in Anderson, SC. Originally, I thought that my employment at Regal would just be a mundane and relatively easy job that would allow me to help pay for school. Although somewhat true, while interviewing for internships, I found myself referring to my experiences at the movie theater. It is baffling to realize that at this job, where I filled up bags of popcorn and cleaned up half eaten candy bars had such an effect on the way I operate in professional environments. Working at Regal allowed me to develop my communication skills, adapt to fast pace work environments, delegate effectively to new hires and how to diffuse high intensity situations. These key attributes that I have attained from working at Regal Entertainment Group has helped me maneuver through my two co-ops and my classes at Clemson. I completed my first co-op with Interflex in Wilkesboro, NC. I was new to the graphic communications program so I did not know much about the world of print. Interflex allowed me to gain a strong foundation in the flexographic process. During this co-op, my interest turned into a drive to want to learn more and pursue a career in the printing industry. My second co-op was with WestRock in Chattanooga, TN. WestRock exposed me to the role of project management. As an intern, I was given the opportunity to manage a total of seven jobs some totaling over $35,000. I am also heavily involved in my church. I am working on increasing our community outreach specifically targeted at children and young adults. My goal is to develop programs that will encourage and continually advise the youth as they grow. I am truly excited to combine both the knowledge I gained from my classes at Clemson and my co-ops into my next career!
