Redeemer, Shelby is an intentionally inclusive congregation, welcoming all people and their gifts regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, education, political views, and economic status. Proclaiming the Good News, preaching and administering the sacraments, providing pastoral care and liturgical leadership in cooperation with the worshipping congregation; building the kingdom of God by working with the congregation to discern and live out our call to mission and ministry locally, regionally, and globally; empowering the congregation by helping to identify and nurture their individual and communal gifts and passions, all for the glory of God.

My duties originally included assisting the rector in leading the parish by assisting in worship; providing pastoral care for parishioners at hospitals, nursing homes, etc.; sharing in pre-marital and pre-baptismal counseling; working on new or existing programs as directed, specifically the welcoming and incorporation of newcomers; and helping to lead the parish toward becoming a presence in the community. With the rector’s departure two months after my ordination, and as the only clergy present for four months, then partnering with a part-time interim, my duties were changed and much expanded.
