• Coordinating and managing the program developing new products for monitoring & diagnostics, condition and lifetime assessment, predictive maintenance, operational flexibility, reverse engineering.• Generating project ideas and technology trends by evaluating business units’ inputs and fleet feedback.• Optimizing performances of project managers and acting as a reviewer in Scientific Methods.

• Leading and executing the R&D project for the development of energy storage concepts to be used in ABB thermal power solar plants.• Coordinating the different execution parties such as corporate research, partner companies, operations group.• Developing dedicated thermodynamic integration and optimization numerical tools to support project execution.

• Managing the international department responsible for acquiring new technologies for power generation, renewable energies, carbon capture and storage, energy management and storage, manufacturing technologies. • Scouting for innovative technologies across business units.• Managing the technology evaluation process finalizing technology watchlists, external collaborations (EU projects), external developments (M&A, start-ups), internal developments.

• Managing the international department working on the development and deployment across business units of Robust Design methodologies for product design.• Standardization across business units of simulation tools and methods, management and development of the Scientific Methods community, establishment of university contacts.

• Setting-up numerical and experimental activities in the field of combustion dynamics: modelling of combustion processes in industrial burners, installation and instrumentation of combustion test rig, validation of numerical methods by experiments.• Acquiring and managing collaboration projects with industry, supervising Post-Docs.

• Leading the Thermoacoustic Team developing simulation tools and methods used to dampen thermoacoustic pulsations generated in dual fuel and auto-ignition burners.• Managing R&D Core Technology projects in the combustion research area.• Acting as a reviewer; assessing IPR for combustion, tutoring of engineers and students.

• Developing mathematical models & numerical tools to simulate combustion instabilities occurring in dual fuel and auto-ignition burners.• Designing acoustic dampers to suppress acoustic pulsations occurring in combustion systems.

• Leading CFD analysis (liquid metal cooling flow) and structural analysis (thermal stress and irradiation damage) for an Accelerator Driven System (ADS) nuclear reactor.• Coordinating EU Project under ESPRIT Program on the development of a CFD code to simulate turbulent premixed combustion in industrial gas turbines.

• Leading the ESA Project “Reactive Flows” on the development of mathematical models & CFD codes to simulate flows with thermochemical non-equilibrium effects and heterogeneous catalytic reactions.

• Working on EU Project “Investigation of Supersonic Flow Phenomena” under BRITE-EURAM Program.
