According to SWAMINATHAN, A., WU M., and RAY LIU KJ (2009), in the face of the tremendous growth in the use of digital imaging devices and technologies, a number of issues have arisen challenging Forensic Science: Date a digital image, how to identify the make and model of the image capture sensor? How was the image acquired? Was it captured using a digital camera, a cell phone camera, a scanner, or was it created artificially by software? Can it be proven that it was or was not produced by a certain camera or digital device? Is it an authentic image or has it been manipulated? Does it contain any information hidden by techniques like steganography? Through the application of applied research, this project has as general objective the collection and generation of the necessary subsidies and finally the development of methodologies for forensic analysis of digital images and a final product, patented in the form of a software platform, that respond to the above issues by supporting the Forensic Community in combating electronic crimes during the investigation process and forensic expertise of digital images produced and / or stored on mobile devices and embedded systems (digital cameras, cell phones, smartphones, PDAs).
