Veteran Health Indiana is a tertiary care healthcare organization with 15 sites of care across central and southern Indiana. The health system has been serving Hoosier Veterans since 1932. The medical center serves as home base for a system of inpatient and outpatient care locations serving more than 62,000 Veterans, including 5,000 women, who utilize 736,000 outpatient appointments each year and 7,000 inpatient care episodes each year. Our Veterans come from communities across Indiana and eastern Illinois. VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is the fourth largest VA Medical Center with 17 sites of care and consistent 5-Star SAIL Quality ratings. We are a teaching hospital with over 200 schools, colleges, and universities. Each year, 2,000 students, trainees, residents, and fellows across 26 disciplines are trained at the medical center. The VAMHCS is a tertiary care 1B Health Care System which consists of 3 VA Medical Centers, 5 Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) and an independent 120-bed Community Living & Rehabilitation Center (CLC). It is a teaching and research hospital, primarily affiliated with the University of Maryland School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins University. The VAMHCS cares for 55,000 Veterans with 3,300FTEE and a $630 Million operating budget.Responsible to the Chief Operating Officer, the Executive Administrative Officer is responsible for working closely with the COO to provide the overall management of the VAMHCS Business office, which includes: Medical Administration Services, Care in the Community Service, Fiscal/Revenue Office, Human Resources, Privacy Office, Facility Engineering Service, Biomedical Engineering, Prosthetics and Sensory Aid Service, and Canteen Services.

The VA Maryland Health Care System is a tertiary care 1B health care organization which consists of 3 VA Medical Centers located at Baltimore and Perry Point (Cecil County), 5 Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) and an independent 120-bed Community Living & Rehabilitation Center on the Loch Raven campus. At these locations, the VAMHCS averages over 750,000 outpatients visits per year with a staff of over 500 MDs and NPs. Responsible to the Chief Medical Officer/Chief of Staff, the Ambulatory Care Operations Director – Group Practice Manager (ACOD-GPM) is responsible for providing oversight and administrative management of all outpatient/ambulatory care operations [Primary Care, Mental Health, Medical/Surgical Specialty Care, Radiology, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services (139 Sub-specialties)] at the 3 Medical Centers and 6 Community Based Outpatient Clinics across the state of Maryland. Furthermore, the ACOD-GPM works with the VAMHCS and Network Executive Team to develop strategic plans.

The Ambulatory and Emergency Care Clinical Center (AECCC) provides comprehensive services to over 40,000 Veterans across the state of Maryland totaling over 120,000 annual visits. With a total staff of 202 FTEE, AECCC consists of the following departments: • Primary Care • Women’s Health• Dermatology• Audiology and Speech Pathology• Emergency Department at the Baltimore VA Medical Center• Urgent Care Center at the Perry Point VA Medical Center• Occupational Health• Environmental Medicine• Compensation and Pension• POW ProgramThe Business Manager/Senior Administrator is responsible for the oversight and efficiency of these programs/services at 2 Hospitals and 6 Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC), a operating budget of $29 Million, first-line supervision of 12 employees, second-second line supervision of 71 employees, and the AECCC Strategic Plan

Responsible to the Chief Business Officer, the Deputy is responsible for the oversight of the following departments: Medical Support Assistant (MSA) operations at the Medical Center and CBOCs (201 FTE), Care in the Community (49 FTE), Health Information Management Service (40 FTE), and Call Center (25 FTE). o Reduced specialty care consult management backlog to reduce wait times by 14% (from 35 days to 30 days) by improving efficiency and collaboration between administrative and clinical staff. o Reduced Community Care Consult Backlog by 30% by improving Care in the Community Staff productivity & collaboration with specialty services. o Reduced BeneTravel Claims backlog by 82% o Reduced Health Information Management Backlog (1st & 3rd Party, Medical Forms, and 7131s) by 70.5%.o Reduced patient’s average call wait time and abandonment rate o Reduced outstanding open encounters by 72% and open return to clinic orders by 65%.

Led the multi-service improvement of Bar-Coded Medication Administration (BCMA) Medication Scanning compliance. Improved medication scanning rates from 95.43% to 99%. Improved wristband scanning from 95.03% to 97.52%. Yielding cost savings greater than $2M.
