After serving a full year as a lifeguard, I was invited to take on the responsibilities of a relatively new student position, the Aquatics Manager. At the time, the professional staff of Campus Recreation were in the process of redistributing portions of the managerial oversight from all full-time employees into a mixture of student and non-student workers. During this period of transition, I had the pleasure of interacting and participating in a host of managerial decisions about the future of the recreation center, specifically those concerning the natatorium. These activities included:-Conducting interviews for the hiring of additional Aquatics Managers-The conception, introduction and implementation of the annually updated policies and procedures manual-Organization of the student employee work scheduleOutside of my roles as Aquatics Manager, I also continued to serve as a lifeguard for the remainder of my time at Fike Recreation Center.

Even though my time spent with Coles Dwight and his team in the Process Equipment Cleaning Division was more relevant to my studies as a Polymer & Fiber Chemistry major, it was my first true office setting and proved to be extremely educational nonetheless.My responsibilities included:-Reorganizing the plant directory of all clients' preferred cleaning standards and protocols using Microsoft Excel, mainly for on-site use by plant engineers.-Checking inventory counts of client products and plant materials on-site-Aided in the redevelopment of certain plant-floor work flows using ideas from lean process management.
