In my initial years with NCSS, my work focused on reducing social isolation amongst seniors. A programme that I implemented was The Kitchen Program. Besides learning more on healthy eating and trying out new recipes, the structured activities centered around food with fellow seniors helped isolated seniors build and strengthen relationships. After the pilot, I also helped scale up the project to 10 additional sites around Singapore which reached out to 2000 seniors. Currently, I am actively involved in enhancing the accessibility of mental health services and promoting social inclusion of individuals with mental health conditions via the Beyond the Label Movement.I am also adept at devising and implementing innovative ideas. One example is the co-development of the first e-Escape room based on mental health in Singapore. NCSS had partnered with the Youth Alliance to curate a physical escape room last year as part of the Beyond The Label Festival. Through gamification and use of online platform, the Beyond the Label movement was able to reach out to over 900 youths over a year. An evaluation also showed the game led to statistically significant improvement of the youths’ perception towards persons with mental health conditions. I possess good communication and people skills, and have utilized these skills effectively when engaging with a multi agency work group with external stakeholders that includes Health Promotion Board (HPB), Community Health Assessment Team (CHAT) by Institute of Mental Health (IMH), Social Service Agencies and Institute of Higher Learnings.
