How do we support ecosystems that are impacted by invasive species and climate change? What can we do to promote the resilience of plant communities in urban greenspaces? How do we prioritize conservation and restoration projects when there’s so much work that needs to be done? These are the questions I grapple with every day. Since 2012, I’ve worked to find answers to these questions in various ecosystems throughout northwest Oregon, with the ultimate goal of helping us to coexist with other organisms in a way that’s equitable and sustainable.During my time as an ecologist, I’ve filled many different roles, from volunteering as a native seed collector, to running an entire wildlife management company as its general manager. The depth and breadth of my professional experience, along with my schooling, have helped me to develop an array of tools for dealing with issues related to ecological restoration and environmental management. A love of wildlife, especially birds, fuels me to find solutions to the obstacles we face today, as well as anticipate future challenges so that they can be addressed proactively.
