Hello! I am Vance Nelson. For nine years, I've thrived as a customer service professional in sales, customer retention, training, and project management. I can communicate effectively across various platforms, present to diverse audiences, simplify complex information, de-escalate high-stress situations, and confidently lead teams. My work experience led me to pursue a business degree at Utah State University. I finished all the business acumen classes and was a year away from graduation, but I wasn't content. My advisor urged me to explore options in Cybersecurity, and I was hooked immediately. I am fascinated by data, technology, challenging problems, and this constantly evolving field. I changed my degree path and graduated in August 2023 with a Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity and a minor in Criminal Justice. I continue to refine my communication skills as a project manager for Thermo Fisher Scientific, and I am pivoting my career to penetration testing. I want to make the world safer and do my part to protect our information and privacy. I am also interested in intelligence, forensics, and security research. Since February 2023, I've been developing my technical skills with HackTheBox, taking courses through TCM Security, and preparing for the PJPT and PNPT certifications. I am also enrolled in the MSCSIA program through WGU.In my free time, I love to travel and explore the great outdoors with my wife and our two boys.
