I worked for GE’s Financial Crime Team situated within the Legal and Compliance sector. During this internship I worked to ensure compliance with governmental sanctions, fraud, in-house policies, and local debt collection laws. In this role, I investigated payments and clients by gathering evidence through extensive research in order to establish rational business relationships between third parties, ensure who had made the payments and that there were no AML concerns, and ensured compliance with global sanctions. These investigations were conducted by examining letters of credit, bank statements, Iban lookups, corporate contracts, and company registration documents. I also used various software to investigate individuals that flagged in our system as potential blacklisted individuals. This role required constant communication throughout the business including liaising with the Governance, Collection, Industrial Leaders, and Cash Application teams. I also was in charge of monitoring and maintain the team mailbox and distributing reports throughout all of GE’s Industrial businesses.

During my time there I also handled customer service for the company and added the case files to an online database to increase efficiency.
