Directed all communications and messaging for a defined set of issue/focus areas. Responsible for writing educational, promotional and other material for the Chamber, including, but not limited to, issue updates, email newsletters, member profiles, speeches, talking points, websites, op-eds, event scripts, news releases and PowerPoint presentations. Created, executed and project managed issue-specific messaging campaigns to keep members informed, as well as to reach additional defined audiences, including prospective members, elected officials and the media. Managed all media relations for defined set of issue/focus area, including preparing internal and external spokespersons and going on the record. Worked with and trained C-suite executives with talking points for events, media requests, and other speaking opportunities. Collaborated with full communications team to deliver messaging and copy to market the NC Chamber and its offerings.

Managed day-to-day account project needs for three clients and acted as a primary contact to those clients. Assisted with account financials including client billing. Developed media strategy plans, identified appropriate media targets and conducted media outreach. Drafted or edited all content delivered to the client.

Led media advocacy efforts for assigned states and media markets, providing input into campaign planning, implementing tactics to support policy and revenue activities, driving relevance and enhancing organization's brand recognition in support of local, state, and federal priorities. Provided a full range of media outreach including developing target media lists, and building relationships with key capitol press corps and health reporters. Drafted talking points, fact sheets, news releases/advisories as well as opinion editorial articles and letters to the editor. Executed press conferences/media events and served as a media spokesperson. Provided media training for staff and volunteers.

Managed and led a crisis/media relations campaign, which resulted in nearly 250 positive/neutral media mentions for SHRM. Responsible for highest-ever reporter attendance at company annual conference, which resulted in 300+ articles; work from this conference earned SHRM a PR News Nonprofit PR Award nomination. Served as co-writer of weekly USA Today Ask HR column, bylined by company CEO. Wrote and executed a communication plan for company-developed federal legislation, which was introduced in Congress in 2017. Media trained and wrote talking points for company spokespeople. Served as corporate photographer during smaller conferences for team’s multimedia efforts. Managed media affairs interns and supervised projects assigned to media affairs specialist and coordinator.

Oversaw and managed all press room logistics and reporter outreach for company’s major conferences including its largest with 17,000-member attendees. Served as content manager for company digital platforms including Twitter, Instagram, and Flickr pages. Developed media lists and distributed press releases using media monitoring software program, Burrelles. Wrote press room website content, pitch notes to reporters, and conference press registration policy. Designed several infographics for media initiatives.

Compiled media lists with Cision including one for a large, international biotechnology convention. Developed e-newsletters distributed to client stakeholders. Compiled online and social media monitoring reports, which were distributed to company executives. Conducted research in preparation for new business pitches, event planning efforts, and ongoing client initiatives. Oversaw billing process for two agency clients. Managed company intern on numerous projects.

Developed social media recommendation report surrounding an upcoming client event. Identified bloggers for engagement and drafted messages to them. Compiled daily, weekly, and monthly social media reports for several clients. Wrote guest blog posts. Conducted research for digital initiatives.

Wrote press releases, media advisories, articles for Wake County employee newsletter and a speech for the county manager. Produced two interview segments for WakeGOV TV, available to all county citizens. Managed project for the Triangle J Council of Governments 50th anniversary. Created directory booklet of public officials. Researched local news outlets’ demographic information used towards Wake County media efforts and researched promotional items for the 2010 Census.

Audited and monitored blogger responses to an ongoing issue with one agency client. Wrote press releases, fact sheets and biographies. Pitched events and products to local media outlets. Conducted online research for several clients.

Maintained clipbooks, performed media analyses and wrote press releases. Pitched Novartis Animal Health US, Inc.’s “Growing Up With Pets” program to pediatricians, veterinarians and family practice centers nationwide.
