• Direct all administrative and financial affairs of the department (23 FT faculty and approximately 105 staff) including responsibility for clinical practice (Ophthalmology Services Foundation/OSF), research administration, grants and contracts, human relations, and space and facilities• Manage department’s financial and accounting activities with School of Medicine, School of Optometry, Callahan Eye Hospital, and UAB Health System• Responsible for financial analysis for both UAB and OSF accounts to include forecasting/budgeting, reporting and reconciliation• Develop, update and administer department Physician Compensation Plan• Secretary/Treasurer for OSF, reporting to the Board of Directors• Provide leadership and oversight for relationships and agreements with outside entities; develop new business plans and direct implementation of joint ventures• Support all research related activities; monitor departmental funding and provide assistance to researchers and staff on applications, budgets and reporting• Manage all aspects of clinical practice, to include duties and responsibilities listed above• Assist Chairman with faculty recruiting efforts (successfully recruited 12 faculty members from 2003 – 2010)
