Vanessa Threadgold is a music industry executive based in London. A law graduate, Vanessa graduated top of her class, with a high first in corporate law and a study and on intellectual property law in her final year. Vanessa is known within the industry as a person who is able to spot problems early on, and tackle them in innovative ways - getting the attention of top music executives. In 2017, Vanessa created the UK’s first female only music studio “Cactus City” which became a conversation starter in the MeToo era, highlighting the need for a space like this and the reasons why women leave the music industry earlier than men. In 2021, Cactus City relaunched as a movement for change within the music industry, with a specific focus on making recording studio spaces safer, and friendlier for female and gender minority users. Vanessa fell into the business side of the music industry in a traditional way, starting by managing her songwriting partner, but quickly realised that with tech in the world developing at a fast pace, the traditional management models would soon become too burdensome to succeed and developed means and ways to streamline admin processes. Despite this, Vanessa is a keen networker and believes a good network is still exceptionally valuable and prioritises creating strong business relationships with genuine gratitude and care. Fast becoming known as a disruptor Vanessa has the ability to articulate and develop ideas successfully and independently. Within JVO she is known as knowledgeable and caring, providing the foundations for artists to succeed in all elements of their professional lives. With a strong history in dance and music, spending time as a performing arts educator, as well as a career in the city, Vanessa has a breadth of experience to bring to JVO. From corporate to entertainment, Vanessa is confidently moving into a significant stage in her career as a music executive in 2020 and beyond.
