Armed with a degree in Civil Engineering and a wealth of experience from various engineering firms, I've honed my land development design and project coordination skills. But I didn't stop there. To broaden my skill set in land development, I took on a new role as an estimator for a site grading contractor, where I simultaneously handled detailed site quantity takeoffs and estimates for 20-25 projects. This adaptability and willingness to learn led me to a significant turn in my journey, transitioning from an estimator role to the proud owner of V Ballard Consulting, my woman-owned independent contracting company.As a non-licensed Civil Engineer, I've led a diverse range of commercial, residential, and industrial project designs. My expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D has been instrumental in creating grading models, water models, storm drainage, site layouts, and full Civil plan submissions for jurisdictions along the East Coast. I'm adept at meeting city/county/state jurisdiction requirements and navigating permitting processes, and I thrive on the challenges of continuous learning and new Civil Design projects.In addition to running V Ballard Consulting, I am deeply involved in our Estimating Department. As a Construction Sitework Estimator, I have performed take-offs for General Contractors, Grading Contractors, Land Developers, and property owners to ensure they have accurate quantities for their bids. Leveraging InSite Elevation Pro Software, I can calculate cut/fill, pavement, topsoil, stripping, clearing, utilities, erosion control, stormwater, retaining wall surfaces, and more.Further, every Thursday, I teach classes to empower professionals and entrepreneurs in civil design, project management, and strategic planning, sharing knowledge that helps others excel in their fields.
