Project Lead Creative SchoolsForm - Building A State Of Creativity Jan 2018 - PresentClaremont, Western Australia, AustraliaCreative Schools is a learning program that explores the link between creativity, executive functions of the brain and deep learning. The program aims to have a positive impact on the academic attainment of students as well as enhance their emotional and social wellbeing. We believe in the importance of nurturing the students’ creative habits of mind: being imaginative, collaborative, persistent, disciplined and inquisitive. Through the program, we allocate trained ‘Creative Practitioners’ to co-plan and co-facilitate lessons with the teacher, in order to co-deliver the WA curriculum more creatively. The focus is on learning not just teaching. FORM is currently working with 16 schools and hopes to inspire students to become better learners and prepare them for the unpredictable future. -
Creative PractitionerForm - Building A State Of Creativity Mar 2018 - Oct 2018Perth, WaIn the Creative Schools program I worked as the creative practitioner at Kinross Primary school. The creative practitioner works alongside the teacher and pupils to plan, implement, reflect and evaluate a creative project or projects. I facilitated a process where all the partners work together to co-construct the learning. This program supports inquiry based learning, ongoing reflection and in-depth evaluation, leading to sustainable and embedded practice. What this approach looks like in schools in the form of projects varies greatly, as each project is designed to be an individual response to the needs of each school. The key defining characteristic of project activity is the collaborative partnership between the creative practitioner, classroom staff and young people and the ways in which this partnership helps to bring the curriculum to life, providing new ways for learners to engage with subjects and to develop increased motivation for learning. Creative Schools projects allow time for in-depth planning, co-delivery and reflection. More importantly, they can be more active and more fun than standard curriculum activities and, at the core of the process, they give pupils greater involvement in decision making. -
