Founded in 2005, Locomotive is a versatile product marketing company that focuses on creating, and marketing products to the retail channel as well as under-serviced niche markets. Many familiar household brands rely on Locomotive to expand their sales into special markets beyond traditional channels.

I managed inventory counts for various retail chains, such as Walmart, Canadian Tire, Loblaws, and Dollarama, along with many others.I was responsible for recruitment, hiring, training and management of about 20-30 employees.

I was responsible for recruiting and training all new volunteers and student placements at the Society. I maintained the records of approximately 75 volunteers and students. In this position I developed a new orientation manual and training process for volunteers, and helped develop new marketing materials such as pamphlets and posters. I also helped start up a new pilot program called Minds in Motion that incorporated physical activity and cognitive stimulation for people in the early stages of dementia.

For my placement project I conducted a full job analysis on all employees and developed new job descriptions for the 35 positions. I also helped conduct health and safety inspections and sat in on several management and union meetings. Working with an HR generalist gave me a very broad understanding of the field.
