As a Chartered Landscape Architect, with around 20 years’ experience, Vanessa was made a Fellow of the Landscape Institute in 2021; she has a detailed and applied knowledge of landscape planning, assessment (LVIA/TVIA/EIA), landscape and public realm design and project management. In 2014 Vanessa founded Arc Landscape Design and Planning ltd. As a growing business Arc are currently working with clients across a range of development sectors on numerous interesting and challenging projects ranging in scale and including several large scale multi-phased developments. Vanessa also acts as an Expert Witness and has addressed issues relating to Green Belt, AONB and sites with designated heritage assets. Vanessa is an Approved Assessor for Building with Nature, an accreditation that promotes best practice in Green Infrastructure in the design and delivery of developments. In addition, Vanessa lectures in professional practice for the post graduate landscape architecture and urban design courses at Kingston University. She is a supervisor and examiner for the Landscape Institute ‘Pathway to Chartership’ programme and in 2012 was appointed to the LI Education and Membership Committee, becoming vice-chair in 2020 when she also joined the Landscape Institute Advisory Council. Vanessa is also an active member of the LIs Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity working group. Vanessa is Chair of a Conservation Area Advisory Committee and in 2017 was selected to join the D:SE (Design South East) Expert Panel and is a member of the Ebbsfleet Design Forum. In 2021 Vanessa was appointed as a board director at Kington First, (Kingston's BID) and in January 2022 she joined the newly formed Design Review Panel for the Greater Cambridge Combined Planning Services.
