As a business reporter, I covered a wide range of issues from stock markets to the economy to technology. I specialized in transportation industries including auto manufacturing, airlines and aerospace, and Uber.

I led the Toronto Star's year-long campaign to put a spotlight on municipal issues, generating ideas on how to build a more effective and liveable city. I managed a core team of six contributors and dozens of bloggers who debated their best ideas for the city during the election campaign.

I oversaw reporting at Toronto City Hall that included breaking news, in-depth features and investigations. I managed a bureau of five reporters and one columnist, in charge of handing out assignments, coaching reporters, editing stories and coordinating news coverage.

I edited copy and wrote headlines for news departments including city, national and foreign, as well as opinion and editorial pages. I supervised the city department's copy desk and was in charge of production, checking all work done by editors and signing off on every headline and article. I worked regularly as assignment editor for the busy city.
