This position involves responsibility for managing the marketing and business generation team for Africa, supporting 9 offices across the region to position the brand and win work. It is based on Turner & Townsend’s four pillars of business generation – strategy, marketing and communications, ‘bid to win’ and key account management. My role is to lead business development and marketing activities for respective sector(s) / sub-sector(s) in a way which promotes both the profile of that segment of the business, develops key client relationships and enables revenue growth. This is achieved through the development of clear strategies and business plans and tactical support of an aligned range of marketing campaigns, communications, bidding and key client activity management.

South Africa

This was a senior role in a global firm which involved managing +/- 22 team members across 6 different marketing teams (direct/dotted line) based in the Johannesburg and Louisville business centers. These teams provided a full range of marketing services to practices, industries and regions, falling under the areas of shared services, aligned services, client development and business intelligence, digital and online, systems, events administration, and public relations. I worked closely with senior leadership and stakeholders to create, plan and drive strategic initiatives and projects that supported the firm's strategic priorities and strategy globally. Another core part of my work was to improve operational efficiencies (enabling value-added, low error support) from a business and M&BD functional perspective and facilitate service delivery models and processes (with supporting infrastructure). In addition, I was part of the Johannesburg Leadership team, supporting operations and business management projects for the global M&BD executive group and the Johannesburg Management Committee, and chairing on committees.

Sandton

This role was hands-on and required expertise and cross-functionality in all areas of marketing, both from a management and execution perspective, and involved the following areas: Marketing, Communications, Branding, Events, CRM, Business Development, Digital Marketing, Social media, PR, CSR and CSI initiatives.

This role incorporated full management functions across multiple areas including operations, human resources, facilities, marketing and finance. Full details are set out in the attachment.
