Forest bathing was developed in the 1980s to combat stress and has been clinically proven to reduce anxiety, depression and boost immune health. ParkBathe is innovative in that it has streamlined a 3 hour practice in ancient woodland into an accessible 1 hour experience in an urban park. By providing a health service that can be completed in a lunch-hour in an urban green space, ParkBathe is available for everyone. The team have conducted research revealing a 40% reduction in anxiety and 50% reduction in rumination following a 1 hour ParkBathe, making this a viable health intervention. In 2016 she was invited to give a TEDx talk in Belgium about the project. Vanessa’s next project was to spend 3 years wearing an EEG (electroencephalogram) headset that recorded her live brain activity while she experienced 10 different meditation styles for a study with neuroscientists.
