As an HR Coordinator at BW Converting Solutions, I am responsible for helping build an HR shared services team. I helped create a shared email account and define our ticketing process, using different tools like Microsoft Forms and Power Automate. I've developed numerous pieces of collateral to be used for the team including business cards and a foam board. I also create signage for different events and company initiatives using Canva. On top of that, I assist with the new hire process from candidate acceptance through the candidate's first day. I not only serve as a first point of contact for employee questions and concerns, but I also partner with others in the business (payroll, managers, HR business partners) to ensure that those questions get resolved in a timely and accurate manner. Most recently, I stepped in to support our recruiting efforts by phone screening candidates and scheduling on-site interviews, which means I own the full-cycle recruiting process for certain positions.

As an HR Solutions Graduate Intern at Johnson Controls, I partnered with HR Generalists and HR Managers to complete day to day HR tasks such as move workers, organization changes, standard HR reports, processing compensation changes, creating appointment letters, conducting exit interviews, and more. Along with that, I worked with another HR Solutions Graduate Intern to coordinate and lead new employee orientation, manage the relationship with our employee discount vendor, plan campus-wide events, and more. I completed project work for other departments in addition to my regular duties. For example, I helped to plan and coordinate a summer intern welcome event over winter break which is pictured below.

As an HR Intern at Steele Solutions inc., I provided administrative assistance for the Human Resources Department in accordance with company policies and procedures. I worked to maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation. This also involved performing periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents were collected and filed appropriately. I also had the pleasure of communicating employee anniversaries, birthdays, and events, which means I got to make employees feel recognized and appreciated when I distributed anniversary gifts. In the beginning of my internship, I spent time learning from the Talent Acquisition team. I made phone calls to candidates and communicated with them through their start date and orientation. When our receptionist was not available, I provided front desk coverage. This developed my customer service skills and ability to react quickly. I prepared flyers and correspondence for the department any time we put on an event, tried out a new process, or needed to get out reminders to employees. Finally, I took on other HR projects as needed and even assisted other departments outside of my scope by providing bilingual support.
