Vanessa Cortez is a Vendor Research Engagement Manager at GigaOm. Colleagues describe her as "Vanessa is the backbone of her team and one of the most hardworking, dedicated co-workers I've had the pleasure of working alongside in the past few years. She is incredibly self-sacrificing, sometimes to own her detriment, to the goals of the team and the company as a whole. She has developed into her role as a manager with grace and humbleness, and is always looking for new ways to grow. Vanessa's extensive relationships with our outside vendors has proved pivotal in our business development, and I was made better by her example. I am consistently amazed at her ability to take on tasks and responsibilities that is beyond her work scope, and I must constantly remind myself that 1) English is not her first or second language!; 2) Her passion lies in the lab and yet she tackles our work in tech and publishing with passionate drive; and 3) she is doing all this amazing work while simultaneously pursuing her Masters! I would not be surprised in the least in the future that Vanessa has in front of her, and I can only hope that long after she or I progress in our careers and move on from the company that we can continue our friendship that I value so dearly."
