I refer and enroll low-income families to free or low-cost physical activities for their children who are considered obese or pre-diabetic. I guide families through tedious scholarship application processes and submit any documentation to representatives of the San Francisco Recreation and Parks program. Additionally, I monitor the children's participation and provide any additional assistance to the family.

I screen, recruit, and enroll potential participants to the research project. For active participants, I track infant and toddler appointments throughout their first year of life from our UCSF Database and remind families of their appointments. On same-day or scheduled appointments, I provide educational modules to parents on topics such as nutrition, the effects of screen time, sleeping requirements, and financial education. I further support families in providing accessible and tangible resources in order to help improve their health and the health of their family.

As a certified nursing assistant (CNA), my main role is to provide the best quality of care to patients/residents and assist them in their daily activities under the supervision of health professionals (e.g. RN, LVN). Some of these daily activities include feeding, bathing, and dressing as well as recording patient vital signs and other routine tasks. With constant one-on-one contact, I have the opportunity to interact with my patients and observe any health concerns (if any) and report new health information in an accurate fashion all while maintaining patient comfort and safety.

As a Youth Outreach Worker (YOW), I facilitated health-related presentations to classrooms from ninth to twelfth grade. These presentations included topics such as the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer community, tobacco awareness, and safe-sex practices. In addition to classroom settings, I also participated in city-wide conferences where I discussed similar topics to students from various schools throughout the Bay Area. During my senior year of high school, all YOW's were involved in the curative process for Wallenberg's first-ever Health Fair where students learned about health topics, including nutrition, and engaged in physical activity contests.
