I worked on a year-long project with MidSouth TransNation to design a website for them as a start-up nonprofit and develop a training curriculum for the organization for when my role is replaced. To develop the website, I first applied for, secured, and then coordinated a grant to cover the expenses related to the website development and future events.

As an intern I work at OUTMemphis to assist with the daily office tasks, as well as events that are held. I work with the staff to improve organization and work flow. I planned and help execute events such as our Volunteer Month programming, recognizing that there was a need for more volunteers at our organization and problem-solving how to attract new volunteers.

At the Conway Housing Authority my overarching assignment was to improve the staff’s technology skills and find a way to maximize the use of the organization’s website. On a day to day basis, I organized files, met with clients to fill out paperwork, and directed inquiries. In my free time, I researched websites of nearby housing authorities to determine what layouts felt most organic from a user-standpoint. I also interviewed staff members to get an insider’s perspective of what suggestions they had to improve the quality of the website. Once that was complete, I compiled a website proposal and presented it to the Director of the Authority and upon approval, I redesigned and published the website with additional information to make the services more accessible.
