READY FOR A NEW ASSIGNMENT!I am British by birth, but had all my early education in the Netherlands due to WW2.I graduated from a four year technical college in the Netherlands in 1965. My studies were in structural and Mechanical technology. Subsequently I emigrated to Canada in June 1965.In Canada I obtained an Arts and Science diploma from Vancouver Community College (VCC), a B.Ed., an M.Ed., and a Masters in Education Technology from the University of British Columbia (UBC).At the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) and UBC I completed my Secondary Instructor qualifications in Industrial Education.As a professional educator, my focus is on facilitating online instruction through 'activity-based' learning, in the understanding that authentic contexts can be pedagogically deconstructed and manipulated to develop language complexity through scaffolded context rich tasks and associated graduated cognitive development.I first obtained a Bachelor of Education as an Elementary/Secondary Generalist at the university of British Columbia with a concentration in Language Arts, TESL, and childhood education pedagogy. I am also fully BC qualified as a professional Tech. Ed. (Industrial Education) teacher. I have a Master of Education degree - (M.Ed. in ENED/LLED), with my main concentrations in Language and Literacy (LLED) and Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language (TESL). Additional studies in English Literature, Education Administration, Secondary Education, Adult Education and German were added. I completed certification in Technology Education (Tech.Ed.) at BCIT/UBC in 1993, and a second Master in Education Technology (M.E.T.) degree with a focus on distance and blended education, in May, 2017.In the Netherlands, I had previously completed a three-year Mechanical Technology Diploma (UTS/MTS). Then later, in Canada, I was able to complete a BCIT/UBC Certification to teach Technology Education in British Columbia schools and became a professionally certified Tech.Ed. teacher.In 1978 I established and operated the Vancouver Language Institute Ltd. (V.L.I.). I maintained a position as both CEO and Director of Instruction and Marketing. After many years of successful international recruiting operations, V.L.I. morphed into a consulting service to other private and public international education initiatives.Now retired, but always the inquisitive educator, I am highly motivated to re-enter education to try out my still-evolving ideas on Activity-Based second language acquisition.
