I am solutions-oriented, not tool oriented. I find solutions to problems that others find intractable, and use the appropriate tools for implementation. Web And Animation Software DeveloperMighty Fudge Studios Nov 2016 - PresentBoulder, Co, UsDynamic HTML generation from various sources, including cloud-based data repositories.Designing and developing a lightweight framework for HTML5 / JavaScript animation. It is configuration-based – instead of defining animation behavior in executable code, behavior is (mostly) defined in configuration files. Because the framework code is reused for different elements, deployments are relatively compact. -
Software EngineerAirbus Jul 2018 - Aug 2018Blagnac Cedex, FrDesign and develop mechanism for tool-independent semantics-based information integration. Prototype project implemented operational mapping mechanisms between diverse platforms, including MagicDraw, Google Sheets, and Excel (via Apache Poi).Technologies:Java, Eclipse, Git, Maven, SysML, MagicDraw, Google Sheets, Apache Poi, Excel, JPA, RMI, Derby. -
Senior Systems Engineer - ContractorAcord May 2018 - Jun 2018Little Falls, Nj, UsCreate and update MagicDraw plugins properly manage customer's Information Model, and change reporting programs to meet customers changes in reporting format. The project also entailed repackaging existing MagicDraw plugins that were not compatible with the customer's current MagicDraw release so that they would work, despite lack of source code. -
Senior Software EngineerSodius Mar 2016 - Dec 2016Royal Oak, Mi, UsMy responsibility was to update members of a suite of tool-to-tool transformation software, including interfaces for UML models between Enterprise Architect and MagicDraw, and from NoMagic's Cameo Data Modeler to CA's ERwin entity relationship modeler. Work entailed defining and implementing mapping for both logical models and diagrams. Also entailed optimization of existing code. -
Independent ContractorPanasonic Usa Jul 2013 - Oct 2015Newark, Nj, UsMaintained system that imported vendor reported issues into Panasonic’s internal trouble tracking system. Automated, simplified, and documented the software environment setup, development, build, deploy and installation processes.I also worked on configuration automation of QNX development environments for multiple target platforms. -
Senior Systems EngineerDigitalglobe May 2008 - Jun 2013Westminster, Colorado, UsMy initial project was to generate well-formed Microsoft Word requirements documents from requirements and use cases that resided in a proprietary requirements management system. I developed a framework for Word document generation that I subsequently used for generating systems specification documents from a UML/SysML tool, as well as generating human-readable documentation of XML Schema Definitions. As primary support for Model Based Systems Engineering, I developed and published standards for consistent SysML usage for the Systems Engineering group, and wrote audit programs that checked SysML for both compliance with the SysML standard and the internal standards. I wrote export tools for requirements and modeling tools targeting import formats for other tools (modeling/requirements/test management).I worked on validation and standardization of XML Schema Definitions, writing tools to help in assessing XSD quality. In the process, I turned up both incorrect XSDs and multiple inconsistent definitions of fields that should have been identical.Other projects:• web application for visually consolidating testing status.• custom reports and web pages from JIRA -
Research AssistantUniversity Of Colorado Boulder 2002 - 2008Boulder, Colorado, UsProjects (not part of thesis or dissertation research):- Graphics support for geologists – radionuclide dating:Developed software to generate topological maps and place locations of geological observations on them, with web interface. - Component services for Open Hypertext:Adapted structural computing environment (originally developed for my M.S. thesis) to implement a component services model developed by Omer Eldai Mohammed for his Ph.D. thesis (Aalborg University, 2005).- Event based document change sensing:Developed prototype software to track document changes and use a caching proxy to log changes to a remote publish-subscribe service.- Web site comparison:Used content clustering to develop website similarity metrics. -
Senior Software EngineerStoragetek Jan 1997 - Sep 2001Software designer and developer for tape library management software.Designed tape library status display command that used the database schema to dynamically construct both command help and command format. This allowed new fields to be added to the tables being queried without having to modify the query command code.Interacted with customers as third tier support.Tape Storage System Test Engineer: I was responsible for testing software controlling large automated tape libraries. In order to improve the testing regime, I automated test generation and system configuration, resulting in higher error discovery and faster testing turnaround. My configuration responsibilities spanned I/O subsystems and networks. When necessary. I performed problem analysis down to low-level programming.

Contract ProgrammerIbm Jul 1996 - Dec 1996Armonk, New York, Ny, UsPrimary responsibility was writing server-side code for a large state-wide child welfare system, using relational databases. I also was called upon to debug client-side problems when there were client-server compatibility problems. When major communications problems were encountered, I was called in to configure the network to accommodate a diverse set of network configurations across the state's counties. -
Contract ProgrammerU S West 1994 - 1996London, GbI maintained the telephone utility's customer billing system. In addition to fixing problems, I analyzed internal requests and rule changes from regulatory bodies and made appropriate changes. I also was the primary programmer in the conversion of Assembler programs to COBOL. -
Senior Systems AnalystDetroit Edison 1978 - 1994Detroit, Michigan, UsIn the Marketing Information department, I developed data-mining queries, designed and produced customized and targeted mailings to large customer groups, with considerable savings over external production (which had been standard practice), prepared and presented material to senior management, and designed customer surveys and systems for storing and extracting information from the results. I also served on the corporate Information Systems resource allocation committee. As a systems programmer, I installed, maintained, and provided primary support for database, telecommunications, and printing systems, as well as miscellaneous purchased software products. Ancillary to my database support, I advised DBAs on schema design and tuning issues. I also provided support for programming languages, time sharing systems, and other systems. I automated database, telecommunications and network configuration, resulting in a reduction in the configuration process from three weeks to under one week, while detecting configuration input errors. As an applications programmer, I redesigned and re-implemented electric utility Interconnection Billing System. The innovative energy cost calculation system allowed calculation of energy costs based on actual hourly generation and purchases. I also provided support for residential, business, and industrial billing systems.
