I like biopharmaceutical manufacturing and the science and engineering that is needed to develop products, processes, and organizations to turn a promising drug candidate into a drug product with a safety, an efficacy, and a production cost that allows it to reach the intended patients.I learned the importance of proper development to turn a candidate into a product and create Chemistry, Manufacturing and Control (CMC) programs appropriate for the different phases of clinical studies or for commercialization.I had the opportunity to work on wide variety of products in different phases of (clinical) development: recombinant proteins, viral vectors, vaccines, and cell therapies, using animal cells and/or microbes to produce these. To allow these products to be used in humans they must be produced in a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) compliant environment, and I did technology transfers from Research and Development to Manufacturing working for an R&D team or working for a manufacturing team.I was involved as expert in GMP facility and equipment design, participated or led their commissioning, validation, and start-up and implemented quality systems.I learned a lot from the people I work(ed) with, and I led, hired, managed, trained and/or mentored co-workers. I like sharing my experience and knowledge through training and lectures.
