I write about and publicise the climate, renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable infrastructure work of the EBRD, a sector that is key to the organisation’s 21st-century profile. The work involves both day-to-day outreach to stakeholders and strategic planning to position the EBRD’s green work effectively and raise awareness of it internationally.

After resigning from my leader-writing job at The Times, I kept an online column, worked for the LATimes’ London bureau, freelanced and wrote novels.My first novel, Portrait of an Unknown Woman, was shortlisted for an Authors' Club Best First Novel award after publication in 2006, and came out in many languages. I wrote five more novels by 2014.

Working in the City but with a good deal of travel, I covered Central Asia and Russia for the eastern Europe-focused EBRD.

I wrote editorials about foreign affairs and legal reform. I won the Orwell Prize for "making political writing into an art" in 2003.I also wrote an arty travel book about the illegal caviar trade during my years in Russia (while off work on maternity leave). And I wrote features, book reviews, TV reviews, and, for a year, was the paper's radio reviewer.

Covering Russian politics / first Chechen war. I wrote a book about Chechnya. I won a US press award (Overseas Press Club).

Correspondent with postings in France, southern Africa, and Russia. Fireman trips to south-east Asia and former Yugoslavia.

Master'S Degree, Jewish Studies (Mostly Yiddish)

Sadly interrupted due to personal circumstances ... I hope to return and complete this fascinating degree though.
