Having worked for over 7 years in Wireline, Schlumberger's biggest and most reputed business vertical, I wanted to work to increase my knowledge about the upstream oilfield operations. When offered the role of the OFS Account Manager, I was exposed to operations and working of 9 business verticals that were operating at the time in Gujarat. Within a few months, I was asked to execute the same responsibilities in Mumbai, but for a much larger scale of operations. Additional responsibilities undertaken during the tenure were:- Coordinating participation trade shows- Organizing Reservoir Symposium- Upkeep of CRM - Initiative for Data Mining projectMajor achievements in this tenure were contract negotiation with a difficult customer, resolving dispute in Marine Seismic operations and becoming conversant with 14 business verticals that had ongoing operations in the offshore business.

After graduating from the ISB, I joined the Wireline team in the Western onshore region as the account manager. Key responsibilities included CRM, bidding and proposals for various projects, market rate analysis, contract negotiations, competitive intelligence and interfacing between delivery teams and customers. Sell-ups in Shale Gas and managing receivables collection in a short period were key achievements in this tenure.

I moved several projects in this assignment, the level of difficult increasing with each project. Geographically, the projects spanned from the north-western Aceh area to the eastern most seas of Papua. In operating environments, I did offshore deepwater to remote land operations, negotiating tough timelines, limited resources and faced the challenge of learning a new language.As the leader of the Kaizen team, I coordinated a one week workshop from an industry professional on Kaizen and its application to the Demobilization Process in Jakarta base. The outcomes were implemented shortly and found to be extremely beneficial, such as rearranging storage rack directions, implementing 5S in maintenance laboratories and standardizing tool inspection procedures.

I was assigned to Cairn onshore exploration project. The 5 well project with Cairn India required an experienced Field Engineer with good client interaction and project planning/management skills. The project was executed perfectly without any non productive time and I was appreciated by the line management for operational excellence and "flawless service delivery". As the Engineer in Charge, I supervised onshore, offshore and remote operations. In addition to the regular responsibilities of the Engineer in Charge, I was additionally responsible for conducting audits on the radiation pits and usage procedure.

Besides operational excellence, my responsibilities included P&L, equipment maintenance and management, personnel management, project management, personnel and environment safety, service delivery, recruitment, mentoring and compliance for radiation and explosives. In the role of Senior Field Engineer, I continued to perform and oversee field operations, learning newer technology and mentoring 3 trainees with me.

My work involved executing and supervising logging operations. Wireline logging is a highly specialized service, and of great value to Oil Companies. Since work is at Drilling rigs, pressure and timeliness are key factors to being successful. My first location as a broken out Field Engineer, I was assigned ONGC land cell. I quickly learnt about the operations around the east coast of India and started working on offshore assignments. Among other achievements, I had negotiated a steep learning curve of managing and offshore cell including open hole and cased hole logging, crew management, logistics and offshore operations.
