Checkout Revamp: Designed tech solution that integrated hopscotch checkout with shopflo checkout with clickstream instrumentation in place. Owned & Led the project that involved collaboration inter- hopscotch & shopflo team, this project aimed to improve checkout conversion by 6%.

Search Improvement & Revamp: We improved existing hopscotch search system to its limit & then built new search system that relied on nlp components like rule based matching & word vectors to break down queries to understand the user intent more succinctly. As of now, A/B Test on new search system is in progress, it is running against old search system with equal traffic diverted, it seemed to have improved conversion for search to ATC by 4%.Listing page ranking: Owned ranking, we started with stabilising existing feature of product listing page & its ranking, & then we led development for improvements in ranking, these improvements were highly sought by senior stakeholders because of their reliance on revenue, so worked with stakeholders, refining & scoping ranking algorithm, & led execution such so that it ensured performance, reliability & maintainability. Critical Tech Debt: Removed a critical and legacy mysql stored procedure from the system that was a single point of failure that comprised of 9 temporary tables, 10 mysql function calls and 7 complex joined sub-queries. This procedure was a bridge that synced data from mysql to elasticsearch. We started with first optimising & later replacing it with Java service. After removal, Runtime of the job that used procedure came down from 4-6 hours to 25-30 mins, with also substantially reducing cpu load on db from 2.5 AAS to 0.4-0.5 AAS.

Homepage Carousel: Implemented the complete back-end for Carousel feature from scratch. Carousel is a prime homepage property and is time-based and configured using CRM. Brainstormed functional and non-functional requirements, came up with design that can handle load of 600k requests/day easily, col- laborated with Front-end teams for the API Contracts, prepared deployment strategy with devops.Customer Analytics: Designed and built a scalable solution for product requirement of adding user- analytic data into click-stream events, and passing on transformed events to analytical and campaign based tools. This was a challenging system-design problem as the clickstream architecture handles 4k click-stream-events/min on average, so brainstormed different designs and solutions with tech leads, evaluated all the options against set of function non-function requirements, finalised and implemented the most beneficial design.
