Edmonton based start-up company that generated an innovative engineering solution to tailings dewatering and management. The startup was running out of money when I joined, and sadly only had funding to run operations until the end of March 2015. Sample engagements included:■ Collected slurry samples and characterized them (rheology, solids content, grain-size distribution)■ Synthesized data in graphical format and reports after executing cross-flow filtration experiments■ Aided in interpretation and analysis of data in the context of prior findings■ Aiding with installation and maintenance of equipment and instrumentation as necessary

As a Senior Resident Assistant (SRA), I mentored and led a team of eleven Resident Assistants who were responsible for the health and wellness of over 450 residents. This included emotional and physical support in the event of a minor incident (alcohol poisoning), to even crisis level situations (suicides). In addition to these responsibilities, I provided programming and leadership building opportunities to my residents at Lister Centre.Highlights and sample engagements included:■ Personally helped over 40 students from over 450 in their adversity through one on one counseling and resource awareness■ Developed a two-day large scale tower-wide event that focused on community building and stress relief ■ Organized a suicide prevention bake sale with the resident assistant team that raised over $500 for the Centre for Suicide Prevention

A Resident Assistant is required to give continuous support throughout the academic year to a floor of 40 students. This includes emotional and physical support in the event of a minor incident to even crisis level situations. In addition to these responsibilities, RAs are required to provide programming and leadership building opportunities to their floor. During the academic year, I personally supervised over 50 students who were placed under my care. My strengths lied in successfully identifying leaders in my community to host events with, and in my ability to adapt to crisis situations using my training in suicide prevention and intervention. Some of my accomplishments are as follows:■ Successfully changed student attitude towards living in residence from negative/destructive to positive/constructive, leading to a marked increase in community participation (15 more students out of a non-participating group of 20)■ Organized and led a team of 13 residents to fundraise over $1,600 for the Canadian Cancer Society■ Volunteered with the residence life team, at the Youth Empowerment and Support Services home
