Stage, lights, drama and dance have always been an integral part of my life. As a student of the Indian classical dance form Bharathanatyam for 20 years, balancing hours of training in parallel with other facets of life has introduced me to various forms of ‘management’ - time + events + life. I got further opportunities to hone these skills while I pursued my bachelor’s degree in engineering and a post-graduation management degree with a marketing specialization.In the 7 years of my professional life, I have had opportunities to wear multiple hats - working as a market research analyst, to events marketing, being a yoga trainer, setting up CRM and business processes, providing social media and digital marketing services, and arts and artist management. Handling many roles across functions has helped me gain a holistic understanding of how integrated various functions are, and how data empowers one to take logical actions.In my last stint at an Arts Management firm, I have had the opportunity to work with reputed arts and cultural institutions, and arts professionals. I personally believe that artistic creations or works, if not managed properly, do not reach the intended consumer. A certain method, process, and skillsets are required to connect the creator and receiver of artistic works. My work in the last 4 years translates this belief into action.A strong work ethic is one of my key strengths. The ability to dot the i’s and cross the t’s, helps me persist on the tasks I have undertaken and see them to completion. I believe that learning is a continuous process and I have been fascinated with the process of acquiring knowledge or skills. Thereby opportunities that help me enhance my expertise or expand my skills always excites me. With my training and teaching experiences, the ability to instruct, train, or offer suggestions to people who look to me for assistance comes naturally. I believe in the power of connectedness and I consider people more important than things. The synergies that come together with different kinds of people working together towards a common goal is enriching.
