Varun, currently residing in The Netherlands, recently graduated (September 2023) from the Leiden Law School (University of Leiden) with a Master of Laws Advanced Studies Program in Law and Digital Technology. His special area of focus and expertise lies in Digital Technologies, Privacy, Child Rights, and the GDPR, DSA, and AI Act.His master’s thesis, completed under the guidance of Ms. Simone van der Hof, explored the topic, "To what extent is the protection of children from dark patterns in video games adequate under The UNCRC, The GDPR, The UCPD, and The DSA?"Varun is a member of the Bar in India, having graduated in 2017 from the prestigious Jindal Global Law School at Sonipat, India, where he obtained his B.A, L.L.B degree. His professional journey includes working under Senior Counsels, a clerkship with a sitting High Court Judge, and handling a diverse range of cases in district, city, sessions, and the high court. He has also represented clients in Tribunals such as Income Tax, Debt Recovery, and National Company Law Tribunal.Particularly proud of the trust his clients place in him, Varun has a passion for research, finding the most applicable case laws and citations, as well as client briefings and arguing cases.Varun is currently seeking opportunities to work with companies as an in-house counsel or as a privacy officer. He aims to contribute by building privacy frameworks, ensuring data protection by design and default, and ensuring compliance with existing data protection frameworks.
