Inspection & Corrosion Engineer
1. Piping Inspection: Visual & dimensional inspection of fabrication jobs like Fit-ups, Radiography, etc. Preparing isometrics and sketches for data recording. On stream inspection of unit lines.2. Equipment Inspection: Inspection of static equipment like heat exchangers, drums, tanks, fired heaters, towers, etc. Inspection and testing of Safety valves i.e. hydrotesting, pneumatic bench air testing. Inspection of pressure and thermal relief valves.3. Painting/Insulation/Fireproofing: Stage-wise inspection of piping/equipment painting as per standards which includes surface preparation (hand tool or power tool cleaning) & subsequent coats of paints (by hand brush or air less painting). Insulation (hot or cold) depends upon nature of service. Fireproofing of the equipment skirts by surface preparation & subsequent reinforcement by wire mesh and cement lining.4. Material Inspection at Warehouse: Stagewise inspection of incoming material in warehouse and their correlation with MTC, visual inspection, dimensional inspection & other NDT techniques as per applicable ASTM codes & review of MTC as per codes.5. RCA (Root cause analysis) of equipment failure w.r.t. corrosion damage mechanisms in the light of Corrosion damage mechanisms and relevant codes (API 571).6. PMI (Positive material identification) of deviation in metallurgy in refinery piping vis-a-vis design metallurgy.7. Risk Based Inspection (RBI) – implementation of basic aspects of RBI for certain specific equipment like heaters, columns and exchangers bases on qualitative and quantitative risk assessment.8. Updating of equipment History & Data cards.9. NDT techniques carried out like Ultrasonic thickness measurement (UTM), Dye Penetrant testing (DPT), Holiday testing for wrapping & coating of underground pipelines.10. Handling of various instruments like UT meter (Krautkrammer, Panametric make), Thermal Imager (Land Infrared make), etc.
