I am a recent graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with degrees in Neuroscience and Chemistry on the pre-medical track. My current research work involves/involved Neuroscience research at the Stein Lab in the Neuroscience Center within the Department of Genetics and Psychiatry research at the ACM Lab in the UNC SOM. I have a passion for combining my dedication to community service, my interest in neuroscience and medicine, and my involvement in research to eventually pursue a career as a doctor of medicine. My personal time and hobbies involve running, traveling, watching movies, and volunteering. My volunteer work as a Family Support Network group leader with the Williams Syndrome Association and my involvement with the NC Museum of Life and Science are some of my most valued experiences, among many others. I have always valued interconnectedness, empathy, and compassion as my guiding tenets. From my education and research studying intricate and interconnected neural networks to my work and passion for building bridges for others in both similar and different fields, I have always thought that the key to progress and adequate care is empathetic communication and grounded scientific understanding. I have adopted this idea of interconnectedness and compassion into all of my work and hope to bring this dynamic to any project or work I engage in in the future. Let's connect!

Student ResearcherUniversity Of North Carolina At Chapel Hill Aug 2023 - Dec 2023Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United StatesThis APPLES service-learning class is focused on neuroscience outreach activities that we bring to the community. Through the design and implementation of hands-on neuroscience activities for local elementary and middle schools, we will gain a deeper understanding of brain anatomy, fundamental neurophysiology, and neuropharmacology, brain and spinal cord involvement in sensory processing and movement, and causes and symptoms of common neuropathological and neuropsychiatric diseases. Students in this class will use the UNC BeAM Makerspace to design and construct their own hands-on neuroscience activities and will assess their effectiveness during the semester culminating in a final research poster presentation detailing the design and assessment of their outreach activity. They will also reflect on the meaning of community engagement. Over the course of the semester, each student will complete a minimum of 30 hours of service within the community. -
