Working with Prof Dr. R I Sujith on combustion Instability, Propulsion, Department of Aerospace Engineering

Worked under LSFD/EFA/MME division (Light alloy structures fabrication division for developmental projects/ External fabrication activities group) in the ongoing research and development of Honeycomb deck for rocket casing. Being multidisciplinary, this technically invloves the concepts of Electrochemistry, Mechanics of materials, Manufacturing Science and Metallurgy. Honeycomb deck manufacturing involves processes such as material selection for skin sheet (AA2014) and core(AA5056), emerying, chemical etching, Anodization followed by sealing of pores if required, manufacturing of core, Assembly of the deck and curing under vaccum bagged condition, insert potting through drilling and araldite application etc. Finally, to check the strength of the cured deck at different spots, tests like Lap shear, Flatwise tensile test, Drum peel have been incurred in this to ensure the strength of the adhesive and the deck. Non destructive tests like C scan(Ultrasonic), FBT etc have been involved. Certain defects mentioned by the manufacturers upon batch production have also been taken into consideration by our Scientists for optimization of the process.

Learned fundamentals of Aerodynamics and to design Aircraft wing using CATIA V5 ; and performed CFD (Fluid flow fluent) and Static structural analysis; and coupled the result using ANSYS software.Finally did a project on Analysis on aeroelasticity of wing design with a detailed report of it. I ultimately had a great exposure to CFD as a beginner.
