Strategic Sourcing Specialist
Current• Responsible for direct and indirect sourcing for the plant, running MRP, issuing purchase orders, acting on requisitions, and preparing goods receipt in SAP to make sure there are no discrepancies• Collecting data and analyzing the monthly indirect spend of plant, and determining opportunities to save based on their spend analysis• Working with plant manager in determining if the maintenance, consumables and MRO supplies budget set by finance team is balanced and allocated properly, and forecast if the budget will be met for month or not• Identified MRO, maintenance, and cleaning supplies as one of the biggest contributors in the overhead expense, and build up a strategy to frame a VMI contract and collectively buy all these supplies from an alternate source helping London plant to meet its monthly overhead budget and save over $200,000 annually• Collaborating with finance department to setup the monthly Purchase Price Variance (PPV)/ savings target and creating the monthly PPV report to measure and monitor the results against the standards set• Framed a purchasing strategy for our North American business based on the factors such as cost savings, risk management, sustainability, and global alignment• Studied the steel market closely and saved over $700,000 by identifying and negotiating with a new steel supplier struggling from the low demand and excess stock during the Autoworkers strike in North America• Attending cross functional VAVE meetings with the product and engineering team to brainstorm innovative continuous improvement ideas involving changing the product to save costs, discussing the challenges of getting them approved from UL, and providing feedback on the supplier's capabilities to meet those changes• Introduced the strategy of group purchasing to buy collectively among 2 production plants, and saved USD$600,000 annually for each plant by combining the spend and negotiating a better price with the supplier
