My roles and responsibilities included assisting my superiors in the design, examination, and assessment of private and public buildings for structural safety and conformity with BIS Codes. Day-to-day activities included developing appropriate ETABS models of mid-rise structures (building height ranging from 18 to 50 metres) for verifying their behaviour under seismic loading. Modelling for beam column junction eccentricities, non-prismatic beams to appropriately represent PT Beams, analysis for response spectrum cases including seismic loading in vertical direction, and using shear walls to arrest deflection/drift to meet BIS specifications were among the general complications.
