In this contracted role, as Retail Manager, I had direct responsibility for the Kitchen Group's network of 19 showrooms, embedded within Freedom Furniture and Good Guys stores, across Victoria and South Australia. I worked closely with a Team Leader and a couple of Supervisors to manage a team of Showroom Consultants who engaged potential customers, generated leads, set design appointments and present the brand(s). In addition, I also worked closely with management teams at The Good Guys and Freedom to ensure their staff generate referrals and opportunities for our showroom consultants.In addition to my work the Retail Manager, I also doubled-up as the Area Sales Manager for South Australia, until such time as a replacement was found.

In my role as Category Manager, and employee 'number one' at DIY HOME, I helped build a whole new Kitchens and Flooring venture for DIY BLINDS. DIY BLINDS is one of Australia’s largest and fastest growing window furnishing retailers. DIY BLINDS has successfully disrupted the window furnishings sector with an online only retail strategy that has focussed on delivering Australian made solutions in a timely and cost effective manner to the satisfaction of a rapidly growing customer base. The company was recently named in Deloitte's Technology FAST 50 and the Australian Business Review's FAST 100. Looking to replicate the success in Window Furnishings, DIY HOME was founded to challenge the Kitchens and Flooring sector, where the sales and design process hasn't evolved in over 30 years. As DIY HOME's Category Manager, I was given cross-functional responsibility to develop a supply chain, assemble teams and develop processes for sales, order processing and delivery. To this end, I worked closely with multiple suppliers to curate catalogues and develop capacity to market, design and retail Cabinetry and Flooring solutions across Australia.

In my role as the National RTA Sales and Marketing Manager, I developed and executed a go to market strategy for a catalogue of ready to assemble (RTA) cabinetry from GoldenHome Australia (GHA). GHA’s parent company operates in 13 countries, is listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and is one of the largest cabinet makers in the World. GHA works with builders, architects, cabinet makers, online retailers and big box retailers to distribute joinery and allied products.

The Kitchen Group supplies Australian built kitchens and in my role as an Area Sales Manager, I had overall responsibility for developing and growing the business in Melbourne’s South East. In this role, I managed a team of Designers and Showroom consultants in a cluster of Design Pods. My designers and I used state of the art computer aided design (CAD) software to design the kitchens and those designs were digitally routed through a Serbian back-office team, for compliance, prior to production in Australia. In addition to my Management role, I also designed and sold over 8.6 million dollars worth of Kitchens.

In my role as the State Sales Manager, I successfully managed a team of nine field sales consultants and had dotted line responsibility for a call centre based sales team. In this role, I mentored, motivated, monitored and managed a team that consistently exceeded expectations and won several awards and divisional incentives. Despite being new to Pest Control, I delivered unprecedented results in terms of revenue and portfolio growth, staff recruitment and retention, KPI analysis, incentive management and other key aspects of my role.

VicMark is a successful print brokerage that specializes in traditional print offerings to blue chip clients. I have been engaged by VicMark to develop capabilities and processes that will provide x-sell opportunities, introduce new revenue streams and strengthen VicMark's account management capabilities.

Ergo is a professional services company that specializes in generative leadership and agile technology solutions. I was contracted by Ergo to help develop and market the firm’s IT consulting and solution delivery practice.

In this role, I brought in over a million dollars worth of new business, grew existing accounts and worked closely with project teams to ensure delivery was aligned to business objectives. Mastersoft offered data quality (DQ) and customer communications management (CCM) solutions to blue chip clients in telecoms, utilities, financial services and government.

I was contracted by the DEH to develop and execute marketing communications strategies. In this self-contained role, I also had to document and manage the tender process to contract an advertising agency to execute the communications strategies. To this end, I worked with the creative agency to develop the campaign creatives, obtained the requisite departmental approvals and project managed the campaign. In addition, I produced various board reports, memos and cabinet submissions that gave me valuable insights into public sector processes and perspectives.

Singapore based BateyPRM was contracted by the Sri Lanka Tourist Board to conceive and execute a brand strategy for tourism from 2004 to 2006. BateyPRM is a WPP affiliate that was founded by Ian Batey, one of Asia’s leading branding and marketing specialists.As General Manager, I managed the Domestic Campaign and Client Liaison Operations for BateyPRM. BateyPRM’s multi-million dollar campaign was both strategic and tactical in nature. I worked closely with the client, our International Campaign office, media partners and local stakeholders to help ensure delivery on the Brand Promise. BateyPRM’s success is best measured by the 30 % increase in tourist arrivals and industry revenue, despite the set-backs of the Tsunami and political tensions. I migrated to Australia on fulfilling my contract through March 2006

TechSys is a professional services company that I founded in partnership with the Just In Time group, Sri Lanka’s largest Systems Integrator. TechSys specializes in project management, managed ICT resources and the design and delivery of end-to-end solutions.My assignment at TechSys included the initial setting up, staffing and management of the company, the development and subsequent revision of a Business Plan, Business partner relationships and the recruitment of a CEO and a CTO. Leveraging my experience, relationships and expertise gained at MediaSolv and Media Solutions, TechSys was profitable from inception. The company was engaged in several large scale implementation and software projects in Europe, Asia and Australia at the time of my exit.

Silicon Valley based MediaSolv distributed technology developed by Media Solutions in Sri Lanka. I helped MediaSolv raise over AUD 7 million over multiple rounds from private investors in Europe & East Asia.MediaSolv acquired Media Solutions and expanded the product portfolio to yield five web and wireless product lines for corporates and service providers.We had our headquarters in San Jose, Sales Offices in Seattle and Singapore, the Development Centre in Sri Lanka and channel partners in China, Latin America and Europe. The products were successfully rolled out at a series of International trade events in 2000 and 2001 before revenues dried up in the economic downturn that followed 9/11. Achievements at MediaSolv's include an export achievement award from the United States Department of Commerce, OEM distribution of our software by Computer Associates (CA), co-marketing agreements negotiated with ERICSSON and numerous global media reports.

Media Solutions was Sri Lanka's first software development house to develop its own products. I raised about AUD 700,000 in seed funding from private investors and had the company profitable and self-sustaining within the first year. My greatest achievement at Media Solutions was the Millennium Office (MO) software suite, lauded by Byte Magazine as the "first virtual office" application. Developed for Windows NT servers, when Microsoft Outlook was still a LAN only option, MO was a web based groupware and mesaging application. Launched at CeBIT in 1998, MO was picked for the Best of Show awards by BYTE Magazine at the same show. Washington based Seattle Lab Inc. signed on as the global distributor in 1999. Media Solutions developed the software in Sri Lanka with all marketing and business development efforts driven by our distributor Seattle Lab. The success of this relationship is best measured by the AUD 2.1 million in revenue generated in late 1999 and early 2000.

As the Marketing Manager for Lanka Internet Services, Sri Lanka's first Internet Service Provider (ISP), I had overall responsibility for the sales and marketing. I played a strategic planning role in the development of the company’s Business Plan and worked in consultation with the Board of Directors, the Financial Controller (Manger Finance & Planning) and the CEO for forecasting and budgeting purposes. I was also responsible for advertising, media relations and distributor channels operations. I established the Web Services team that generated over Rs. 5 million in unbudgeted revenue. This team charted new territory in the Sri Lankan IT sector and helped the company remain one step ahead of the competition. Our most notable achievements included the publishing of Asia’s first online newspaper (Daily News) and the first ever live netcast of international sporting event - the 1996 Cricket World Cup.
