Eskom afforded me the opportunity to become part of ESTEQ for six months to develop my Flownex simulation skills under the expert guidance of the Simulation Engineers at ESTEQ. During this period I was shown how the package works and what assumptions are made. I was introduced to the simulation environment with the use of tutorials which covered:-Water systems-Compressed Air systems-Heat Transfer modelling-System Design using FlownexAfter the brief introduction work was done on for ESTEQ on their technical support queries.During this internship exposure to FloEFD, a CFD Simulation, was gained and various engineering components were modeled to evaluate:-Flow characteristics-Heat Transfer-Pressure drop-Enclosure Design

During the mid year university break I worked in a small engineering company that manufactured products for the the rubber industry. I was in search for a practical view on Engineering and some of my duties included:• Developing an ergonomic and efficient Workshop Layout• Developing a strategy for the reassembly of rubber mixing and rolling machines so that they could be placed in the building in an efficient manner• Assist on the design, manufacture and testing of the rubber pipe manufacturing tables• Design of a factory customized lifting structure for the purpose of costing for a tender application
