Profile bio

About Marie Vasquez-Brooks

Diverse Leadership Experience: I have led a diverse portfolio of academic programs and teams of up to 100 talented professionals that delivered excellence through offering innovative and caring programs. With over 15 years of experience in educational leadership that honed transferable and transformative skills, I have had the honor to serve in small rural through large urban institutions. Broad Teaching and Training Expertise: I have hands-on experience teaching infants through seniors and bring a perspective that is unique and committed to remaining curious. I have learned that asking the right questions is crucial to learning, whether you are the teacher or the student. Educators must remain willing to question our own knowledge and beliefs. Challenging yourself and learning from failures paves the way to amazing opportunities and experiences. Teachers commit to holding a light on the path, and walking alongside others' journeys. We have to be equally committed to seeking those lights for ourselves as models of "forever learners".Brave New Analytic World: I intentionally sought the most current and talented faculty and learning spaces to strengthen my skills and light my path. Knowing that there were still opportunities to measure and understand the complex ecosystems of education, I honed my formal education and training in research protocols with applied analytic skills. I deeply understand the importance of blending data-driven decision making, innovation, and organizational strategy. This has allowed me to adeptly face business analytics challenges and look for ways that diverse team can thrive. One example is reimagining how we define "success" for academic programs. Creating a '360 Degree' look at the impact on students, faculty, workforce, and mission allows for better decision-making when allocating finite resources and recruiting for students. This advances our academic planning beyond simply aligning student interest with open jobs. Strength in Community: I am passionate about applying the science of data to tell stories and support strategic initiatives, policies, and practices that enhance organizational mission. I celebrate collaborative and inclusive cultures that leverage the collective strengths and experiences of professional teams to exceed expectations by protecting the ability to listen with honesty and foster spaces that honor diversity of views and opinions. This leads to strong, global communities that will be prepared to face the challenges that technology will permanently imprint on our times.
