I work developing epidemiological models for the monitoring, sampling and control of crops, plants and tree diseases.

As a research visitor at the Centre for Biological Sciences of the University of Southampton, I work developing and testing ecological models. I am currently working on the modelling of artificial ecosystems via numerical simulations to understand the impact of feeble and week species (that we denominate "canary species") on ecosystem population dynamics.

I am working in a project hat aims to identify sensitive species in a healthy working ecosystem. These sensitive species have the characteristic of being of little impact for the ecosystem functioning. By identifying changes in the dynamics of these species we aim to identify stressors that may lead to transitions and/or early warnings potentially leading to ecosystem collapse. Early signals of potential damage in ecosystems may help to prevent catastriphic events at very early stages.

Our models take into account biological behaviour given by growth and death rates, behavioural factors and dispersal rates.
