To lead the division in formulating, conceptualising, implementing and evaluating child and youth health promotion programmes to optimise health and well-being. This role includes working with stakeholders such as parents-to-be, parents, educators and other caregivers who influence health (promoting) decisions for children especially those aged 12 years and below. Moving upstream to equip children and youths with opportunities to understand, practice and sustain healthier health habits will improve health outcomes in the longer term.

2021 – Within three months of deployment to School Health Outreach, re-organised the division to focus on parents & caregivers and cultivating partners to amplify the health and well-being messages in other lived environments besides the schools. The re-organisation also facilitated the streamlining of HPB’s responses to MOH’s Child & Maternal Health & Well-being strategy plan with a dedicated team looked into what we are already doing and what more truly needed to be done. Directing the partnership with local Indian organisations to promote health and well-being among Singaporean Indians resulting in Indians being more physically active, going for recommended health screening regularly despite the pandemic. While prevalence of overweight and obesity remains high among Indians, health habits that had been inculcated would stand them in good stead in improving health outcomes in the future. 2020 – Established the COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test workflows from point of testing to publication of results to individuals and employers (for foreign workers). The planning unit within the Testing Operations Centre (TOC) also oversaw the various specimen collection methods for PCR testing including exploring the use of machine-assisted testing for clients at the swab centres. By the end of my deployment to TOC, I had established 25 end-to-end testing workflows, experimented and recommended five specimen collection methods and provided a weekly update to relevant Public Office Holders’ Taskforces on how PCR testing was progressing in Singapore ‘2018 – 2019 – Reviewed & revised the roles and responsibilities of the preventable cancer screening committees to establish the panels for Quality Assurance & education recognising that there was a Screening Test Review Committee that MOH was looking to establish on a regular basis.
