About Vatsal Modi
Currently, I am working as an Engineer at Aspen Technology Inc., primarily focused on improving the optimization solvers and enhancing user experience. I have graduated with a Master’s in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in December 2015. During the course of graduate research, I have worked on Model Comparison for Process Scheduling Optimization under Uncertainties as part of my master’s thesis under the guidance of Dr. Chrysanthos Gounaris. My education at Carnegie Mellon University and my work thereafter has made me proficient in the use of various software like Aspen, COMSOL, GAMS to name a few. I have also gained professional dexterity in the use of a number of programming languages like Python, Java, Go, C++, Fortran and more. The rigorous coursework at the university has nurtured my problem-solving and quantitative skills.I have previously completed my Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, India (formerly known as UDCT). Determined to understand the practical aspects of my theoretical knowledge, I underwent summer internships at Halliburton Offshore Services Inc., Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and Scientific Precision Pvt. Ltd. where I developed analytical and organizational skills along with teamwork and interpersonal skills. It also induced in me a strong work ethic. I am pursuing a career path that would allow me work towards solving the major concerns faced by the world today. I wish to be able to apply my technical and computational skills in field of Optimization, Process Systems Modeling, Sustainable Development and towards the development of innovative products.
