I transitioned into this role and quickly learned the objective of revenue management and the importance of optimizing all revenue opportunities in group and transient markets. As a GRC, I performed duties related to managing group blocks, communicated regularly with meeting planners, housing agencies and top clients, and worked very closely with hotel department heads to help provide a smooth reservations process. I was also in charge of interpreting and enforcing contractual clauses, managing relationships with clients and Online Travel Agencies (OTAs). Moreover, I became familiar with the property's PMS (Epitome), basic SQL, Microsoft Access tools, increased my competency in Excel and enhanced overall interpersonal and technical skills.

I started my career with the Omni serving as the main point of contact for guests where I acted as their personal ambassador throughout their stay. As a tourism sales trainee, I had the wonderful experience of supporting familiarization (FAM) trips in which I engaged with prospective leads, specifically from Chile and India, to better assess their travel preferences and "what makes them tick". During my first internship experience, I was lucky enough to collaborate on the creation of Puerto Rico's first-ever ecotourism program while conducting online polls and survey to gather feedback for the company’s Green Hotel Certification Program. This dynamic endeavor enhanced my understanding of the local travel scope and how the firm actively seeks new markets to help impact local touristic enterprises thus the local economy. I was also tasked with calculating risk factors for touristic operators based on their insurance policies to determine their eligibility for re-endorsement. Moreover, I participated on large and small scale hotel and casino compliance inspections and analyzed quantified feasibility for twenty one potential project sites around the island whereas only three would be selected depending on the implementation of management plans, physical conditions and community outreach.
